Japanese chipmaker Renesas Electronics Corp. says it will suspend production at six factories in Japan for as long a two months in anticipation of a continuing trade war between the U.S. and China.

Renesas says it is likely to halt output at the facilities for one-month periods in May and August. The company also may make several weekly production adjustments this year at three more plants in Japan and four in China and Malaysia.

The computer chips Renesas makes are used to control consumer electronics and everything from machine tools to electronic features in cars.
