Ian Callum, who left Jaguar Cars Ltd. on July 1 after serving as the carmaker’s design chief for a decade, is launching his own design and engineering firm.

Called Callum, the new U.K.-based company will create customized products for clients across multiple industries. As design chief and co-founder, Callum will lead a team of 18 people with experience in the automotive, motorsports, lifestyle, fashion and travel industries.

The firm’s other co-founders are engineering director Adam Donfrancesco, program director David Fairbairn and commercial director Tom Bird. All three previously worked for or had ties with Jaguar. Donfrancesco’s credits include the Jaguar F-Type GT4, Aston Martin GT8 and GT12.

Callum (pictured) began his career with Ford in 1979, serving in design studios in the U.S., Europe and Australia. He later spent 10 years as chief designer for Canadian interior design firm TWR Design before joining Jaguar in 1999.

Callum says the new company will allow him to focus on creating “wonderful and personal” designs. The catalyst of the company, he adds, will be collaboration between team members and future outside partners. Initial projects are expected to be announced later this summer.
