Hyundai Motor Co.’s high-end Genesis brand plans to launch two SUV/crossover vehicles and another unspecified model to double its product lineup by 2021, Genesis CEO Manfred Fitzgerald tells Australia’s GoAuto.
The upscale marque currently sells three rear-wheel drive sedans: the G70, G80 and G90.
The carmaker’s first SUV/crossover will be a production version of the 2017 GV80 concept (pictured), which will compete against the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. This will be followed by the slightly smaller GV70 crossover.
The third new model could be a 2+2 sports coupe based on last year’s stylish Essentia all-electric concept car. Fitzgerald previously has indicated he was pushing for such a vehicle.
