Hyundai Motor Co.’s Genesis luxury car unit will discontinue the 5.0-liter V-8 offered in its G80 and G90 luxury sedans.

In the G80, the 5.0-liter Tau V-8 will be dropped when the next-generation car bows this autumn in South Korea, Genesis boss Manfred Fitzgerald tells Car and Driver. The larger G90 will continue to offer the V-8 until the car is redesigned sometime later.

Hyundai’s naturally aspirated Tau V-8 makes 420 hp and 372 lb-ft of torque. Fitzgerald says there are no plans to add a turbocharger to the engine or make other upgrades.

In addition to the 5.0-liter mill, the G80 and G90 currently offer a 3.8-liter V-6 and a turbocharged 3.6-liter unit.
