Brussels-based commercial vehicle technologies supplier Wabco Holdings Inc. officially opened a new headquarters this week in Auburn Hills, Mich., for its Americas operations.

The company invested $20 million in the 102,000 sq-ft facility, which consolidates Wabco’s staff in the region, including engineering, sales and administration operations in nearby Rochester Hills and Troy, Mich. Wabco initially will employ 200 people in Auburn Hills and plans to add another 90 workers there over the next three years.

The new two-story building includes office space, a customer experience center, vehicle test lab and training center. Wabco says the facility, which includes augmented reality tools, also will be used to develop next-generation technologies for autonomous, connected and electric vehicles.

Over the past two years, Wabco Americas has tripled its workforce through three acquisitions (Mico, Laydon Composites and R.H Sheppard). The company also recently bought out Meritor Inc.’s share of the former Meritor Wabco Vehicle Control System 50:50 joint venture.
