EVENT MANAGER

The Event Manager will directly support the development and execution of Gardner Business Media’s live events. This role requires managing multiple events across various brands, multitasking, and demonstrating excellent inter-departmental communication skills. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in tradeshow and conference management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of GBM’s events, including heavy-machinery tradeshows and conferences.
  • Collaborate with leadership to understand event objectives and target audiences, ensuring events align with company goals.
  • Manage all aspects of event operations and logistics, including catering, audio visual, sponsorships, marketing, budgeting, registration, security and staff.
  • Lead exhibitor services and sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with Brand VPs to develop and execute sponsorship strategy.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Develop and maintain event budgets, forecasts, and reconciliation.
  • Develop event timelines based on objectives and budgets.
  • Collaborate with marketing & design managers to create and implement marketing strategies and timelines.
  • Develop and present post-event recaps, identifying opportunities for improvement.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with exhibitor management software, preferably MapYourShow.
  • Experience developing registration program, preferably with Convention Data Services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with excellent Excel skills being a plus.
  • Experience in operational and technical production of medium-large scale tradeshows, including building floor plans, understanding North American exhibitor display rules, and utilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
