Mazda will soon be bringing a brand-new Mazda6 sedan to the U.S., a vehicle which had its world debut. . .in Moscow. (Think the world isn’t changing?)

It will be having the world premiere of the Mazda6 wagon at the Paris Mondial de l’Automobile later this month.

It will not be bringing the wagon to the U.S. (Or, as the official word has it, “There are no plans to bring it to North America at this time.” Wagons aren’t popular in the U.S. market. Chances are, wagons won’t be popular in the U.S. for any foreseeable time.

The wagon in Paris will be equipped with a SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter diesel engine. Diesels are about as popular in the U.S. market as wagons.

But look at the styling of that wagon. It is an excellent interpretation of the company’s Kodo design language (“the soul of motion”), which evidently has the opportunity to express itself along the body sides of the wagon in a way that it can’t on, say, something smaller, like a Mazda3.

Well, maybe some day the wagon will arrive in the U.S.  Maybe.
