Consider this: a field-of-view width for a hand-held laser scanner of up to 120 mm and yet a point resolution of up to 35 μm. What’s more, a frame rate of over 450 Hz. And 2,000 points per scan line. It seems that because Nikon Metrology (nikonmetrology.com) has been developing its ModelMaker line for 22 years, the latest H120 system is able to offer these capabilities.
The unit uses Nikon optics and a blue, low-speckle laser. Small features are readily detected. There is a scanner accuracy of 7 μm (1 sigma). Laser parameters are adjusted for every point in a scan line through the fourth generation of the company’s Enhanced Sensor Performance, which means that parts that have significant color changes or changes in reflectivity can be measured from any angle.
The H120 can handle carbon fiber, gloss black, reflective and multi-colored parts.
