Increase in Technology Also Increases Communications
The speed of technology is causing ripple effects in the global manufacturing community from production all the way to market. Technology is advancing forward exponentially. As a Group Publisher, it is my duty to push the manufacturing audience with information and knowledge that will support them in their quest to be the best manufacturers they can be, using the latest delivery tools.
The speed of technology is causing ripple effects in the global manufacturing community from production all the way to market. Technology is advancing forward exponentially.
This is quietly causing everyone to push themselves from comfortable positions of traditional or generational procedures to quickly educate themselves and invest in the proper resources to maintain or grow market share.
As International Group Publisher for Gardner Business Media, I have had the luxury of working in different markets, with different cultures and different processes. My expertise lies within the Marketing & Communications sector and I have had the pleasure of working with Technology Suppliers in the Manufacturing community for 17+ years from both the OEM level to the regional level. One thing that is a constant across borders is that they strive to market, sell, and support their prospects and customers.
Only a few years ago, it made sense to hold EMO (the largest metalworking exhibit in the world) every two years. OEMs in the technology supply chain would wait and schedule their launches of new technology for this grand event.
However, with the expansion of technological resources, OEMs are creating new models and new features earlier than the 24-month cycle. Hence, the creation of AMB – an event held in Germany 12 months opposite of EMO. This event has given suppliers another opportunity to present live -- new offerings -- that technology has made possible.
In the Plastics world, the K-show (largest Plastics event in the world) is held in Germany every 3 years. It is now being supported by FAKUMA which is held each year the K-show is not. This has awarded Technology suppliers in the Plastics industry, more regular exposure as well.
Other forms of communications have also advanced their frequencies. Monthly magazines have increased their tools as well with Social Media and e-newsletters to support the demand of information and give suppliers another avenue to push their leadership position with the end goal to maintain or grow their market share.
We have all felt the effects of Technology growth in our day to day lives. It is no different in the manufacturing community.
Software upgrades, Industry 4.0 or IoT, Transformative Technology, and so on, are all effecting the speed of Technology pushing everyone into new domains. This is causing everyone to scramble for more education that would translate to new implementations and procedures.
As a Group Publisher, it is my duty to push the manufacturing audience with information and knowledge that will support them in their quest to be the best manufacturers they can be, using the latest delivery tools.
