Maralah Rose-Asch, CBC, publisher and editor at Gardner Business Media, Inc., received the prestigious 2013 G.D. Crain Jr. Award at the Business Marketing Association’s B2 Awards ceremony recently. The G.D. Crain Jr. Award recognizes outstanding career achievements in business-to-business marketing and exceptional service to the Business Marketing Association. Ms. Rose-Asch is the fourth woman to have received the G.D. Crain Jr. Award in its 45-year history.

Maralah S. Rose-Asch, CBC, wins G.D. Crain Jr. Award

Maralah Rose-Asch, CBC, publisher and editor at Gardner Business Media, Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio, received the prestigious 2013 G.D. Crain Jr. Award at the Business Marketing Association’s B2 Awards ceremony recently. Rance Crain, president of Crain Communications and son of G.D. Crain Jr., presented the honor. The G.D. Crain Jr. Award recognizes outstanding career achievements in business-to-business marketing and exceptional service to the Business Marketing Association. The reward was established in 1969 to honor G.D. Crain Jr., founder of Crain Communications Inc., which today is one of the largest privately owned business media companies with 30 leading business, trade and consumer brands in North America, Europe and Asia. Ms. Rose-Asch is the fourth woman to have received the G.D. Crain Jr. Award in its 45-year history.
 
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Rose-Asch thanked Crain Communications, the Business Marketing Association, her employer – Gardner Business Media, Inc., and her husband, Les Asch. “I am stunned by this honor to be recognized as the G.D. Crain Jr. Award winner, and to become part of such an illustrious group,” she said. “I have always had a passion for the BMA and believe I have received much more as a result of my membership than I ever gave.”
 
Ms. Rose-Asch joined the Cincinnati Chapter of the Business Marketing Association in 1981 and served as chairman of most every committee. As editor of the Chapter's newsletter for seven years, she received six national awards for her work. She earned her Certified Business Communicator (CBC) in 1985. In 1988, she was elected president of the Cincinnati Chapter and completed her term highlighted by the awarding of "Chapter of the Year," an award that was also received for the next seven consecutive years. In 1992, she received the BMA Chairman's Citation for Leadership Excellence Award and was named the 1992 Cincinnati Advertising Person of the Year. Ms. Rose-Asch has served as Secretary of the BMA International Board of Directors for the last 15 years. For more than 25 years, she has judged numerous local and international advertising and marketing awards programs.
 
Ms. Rose-Asch has been employed for 43 years by Gardner Business Media, Inc. She has held many positions at Gardner over the last four decades, and has been Publisher and Editor of the company’s Manufacturing Marketer for the last 22 years. Her newsletters have received numerous awards in addition to being referenced in newsletter text books.
 
Gardner Business Media was founded in 1928 (as Gardner Publications, Inc.) in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the introduction of Modern Machine Shop magazine. To this day, Modern Machine Shop is recognized around the world as the premier metalworking and machine tool publication in North America. Since then, Gardner has built a niche with eight titles focused on one area: manufacturing. Gardner started a new venture in 2005, Map Your Show (MYS). Originally offering an interactive floor plan for trade shows and conferences, MYS has grown to offer an entire suite of show management software solutions. The company is wholly family-owned. In 2009, Gardner Business Media was named Family Business of the Decade by the University of Cincinnati’s Goering Center for Family Business. And Gardner is also the recipient of the Media Industry Newsletter (MIN) Integrated Marketing Award for magazine marketing excellence.  Gardner won the category of "print/online bundle."
 
Richard Kline, President of Gardner Business Media provided remarks during the occasion and said, “Maralah’s dedication to the BMA has been of great value to the association and to our company. Gardner’s customers and prospects have received important knowledge from the newsletters and blogs that Maralah has written with contributions from speakers and experts she has met. The company has also benefitted from the knowledge we have learned as we have moved into the growing digital world.”
 
Ms. Rose-Asch has also served on numerous local civic and association committees, and resides in Bethel, Ohio with her husband, Les Asch and their daughter, Brittany.
