Meet the Team Behind Plastics Technology Media
Jeff Sloan is the brand vice president for CompositesWorld and Plastics Technology brands, responsible for the overall media brand, including sales, marketing and editorial content.
Prior to this, Jeff was editor-in-chief of CompositesWorld from 2006 to 2023 and directed and managed all editorial content for all of the brand’s products, including printed magazine, digital content, newsletters, videos and podcasts. Jeff is a member of SAMPE and has appeared as a speaker at SAMPE conferences and CAMX as well as Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) meetings. He was co-chair of the Carbon Fiber 2020 conference.
Prior to joining CompositesWorld, Jeff worked for 10 years as editor and then publisher of Injection Molding, Modern Plastics and Plastics Machinery & Auxiliaries magazines. Jeff has also worked as a technical writer, and is a 1990 graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in technical journalism.
Tony Deligio is the editor in chief of Plastics Technology magazine. Tony has been covering the global plastics processing industry since 2000, visiting processors and suppliers in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Tony previously covered the plastics processing industry at Injection Molding Magazine, Modern Plastics, Plastics Machinery & Auxiliaries and PlasticsToday. He is a graduate of Colorado State University (Fort Collins, Colo.) with a degree in technical journalism.
Jim Callari is the editorial director of Plastics Technology magazine. Jim has been in plastics journalism since 1988, when he joined the staff of Plastics World Magazine as senior editor. Jim joined Plastics Technology in 1997 as executive editor, and became editorial director in 2009. In addition to being responsible for the overall editorial strategy of the magazine, Jim enjoys reporting on extrusion technology. He is a long-time member of the Society of Plastics Engineers and currently serves on the board of directors for SPE’s Extrusion Division. He is also a member of the content committee for NPE2024. Jim was inducted into the Plastics Pioneers Association in 2012. In 1989, Jim received the Jesse H. Neal Editorial Achievement Award, considered the Pulitzer Prize of business journalism, from the Association of Business Publishers. PRESS KIT
Angela Osborne is the managing editor of Additive Manufacturing magazine and Plastics Technology magazine. She has a background in the manufacturing industry from her stint as managing editor of a trade industry publication for UV and EB finishing technologies, and from her work as a communications specialist for Ford Motor Company as well as providing communications for a variety of manufacturing clients. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and has an extensive background in other communications, including news reporting, public relations, community relations, social media and marketing.
Sarah is the senior content marketer for Products Finishing, Plastics Technology, and MoldMaking Technology, managing social media pages, newsletters, and other digital projects. As a former editor in Dayton, Ohio, Sarah comes to Gardner in 2021 with an eagerness to learn the industry. Sarah holds a B.A. in Communications/Media Studies from Wright State University.
Matt Stonecash started with Plastics Technology in 2022. After 12 years as an engineer in the medical device industry and healthcare environments, Matt began writing freelance in 2020. He has degrees in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and professional writing.
A 51-year veteran, Matt Naitove is Contributing Editor of Plastics Technology magazine, where he has reported on virtually every aspect of plastics since 1972. Matt started at PT as a cub reporter fresh out of school and rose through the ranks to Chief Editor, a position he held for 29 years. He was Executive Editor for another 14 years. His beats on the magazine have included reporting on all aspects of injection molding and blow molding technology, as well as thermoforming, composites, materials and additives. He has helped organize numerous conferences, including Plastics Technology’s annual Molding Conference and exhibit and two Thermoplastic Composites in Automotive conferences in 2014 and 2016. Matt is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College and holds a masters degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. Lilli Sherman is a contributing editor for Plastics Technology Magazine. Lilli started with PT in 1987, and has reported on ever-evolving materials and additive technologies. She also is responsible for PT’s resin pricing column.
Other interesting topics she regularly covers include advances in biopolymers, thermoplastic composites as well as testing & measurement, decorating & printing, and welding technologies. She also enjoys being a regular blogger on interesting technologies and studies that emerge in the news beats she covers.
For the last five years, Lilli has been invited to serve as a participating judge in the annual Blue Ribbon Automotive Awards by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Automotive Division.
She has also served as moderator in sessions of PT’s Extrusion and Molding conferences and one on Thermoplastic Composites, which included recruiting appropriate speakers from materials and additives companies.
Lilli also attends and reports on, among other events, on the annual SPE International Polyolefins conference and the IHS Markit Global Plastics Summit (GPS).
She is a graduate of Hofstra University (Hempstead, N.Y.) and the University of Bridgeport (Bridgeport, CT), and has attended several writing courses at the University of Connecticut.
