Commercial vehicle wheelmaker Accuride Corp. has agreed to buy privately held competitor Mefro Wheels GmbH, a German supplier of original-equipment steel wheels for cars, trucks and vehicles used in agriculture and construction.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Accuride says the sale awaits several antitrust reviews in Europe.

Accuride, which was formed 31 years ago, emerged from bankruptcy in 2010 and was acquired last year by New York City-based private equity firm Crestview Advisers LLC. The company employs 2,000 people and operates factories in North America and Italy.

Mefro’s 3,600 workers make more than 25 million wheels per year at 15 facilities in North and South America, Europe, Turkey, Russia and China. The company says it supplies almost all major carmakers.
