Audi AG has appointed Daniel Weissland, currently head of its Canadian unit, as president of U.S. operations, effective Sept. 1.

Weissland (pictured) succeeds Mark De Rosso, who abruptly quit in May after five months in the position. The position has been occupied during the interim by Clan O’Brien, chief operating officer for Audi of America.
Weissland’s role in Canada will be filled on an interim basis by Lorie-Ann Roxburgh, the unit’s current chief financial officer.
Audi’s U.S. unit ended more than 100 consecutive months of year-on-year sales growth last September, and full-year sales slipped 1%. Volume shrank another 6% to 101,400 units in the first half of 2019.
Weissland helped deliver record sales in Canada last year, where volume expanded 4% to 118,400 units.
