Audi Reconsiders Plan to Kill TT Coupe
Audi AG is rethinking its decision in May to phase out its iconic TT sports car, even if a successor isn't profitable.

In May, Audi AG CEO Bram Schot declared that the company was unlikely to produce a successor to its iconic TT sports coupe and convertible due to shrinking demand for such cars.
Since then, Schott tells Autoblog, he has been besieged with questions about the program. As a result, it now appears there will be a next-generation model—even if the business case doesn’t make financial sense.
“Of course, there will be a successor,” Schot tells Autoblog. But he notes that the TT still will likely cost more to develop than it will generate in sales.
It’s not clear when the new TT will arrive or what form it will take. Two- and four-door versions reportedly are being considered. Shot previously said the TT would be replaced with a high-end “emotive” EV, which is still a possibility.
Audi introduced the stylish TT two-seater in 1999. At one time the carmaker considered creating a family of TT vehicles.
