The new Bentley Bentayga Speed has a top speed of 190 mph, which edges out the Lamborghini Urus as the world’s fastest SUV/crossover.

Powered by a 6.0-liter W-12 engine, the standard Bentayga tops out at 187 mph. The Urus eclipsed this at 189 mph when it was launched in 2017.

The Urus can still beat the Bentayga from zero to 62 mph with a time of 3.6 seconds. This compares with 3.9 seconds for the Bentayga Speed.

The new Speed model gets a retuned version of the twin-turbo W-12 engine, increasing output by 4% to 626 hp. Torque remains the same at 664 lb ft.

In addition to the engine upgrade, the Bentayga Speed has a revised chassis and a recalibrated “Sport” mode to improve ride and handling. Other available goodies include a louder exhaust note, 22-inch wheels, ceramic brakes, ambient mood lights and Alcantara seats.

The Bentayga Speed will go on sale this summer with a starting price of just under $240,000. That’s about $25,000 more than the current W-12-powered Bentayga. Bentley also offers V-8 and, in select markets, diesel versions of the ultra-luxury crossover vehicle.
