BMW AG doesn’t plan to produce successors to the 2 Series Active Tourer or Gran Tourer compact MPVs after the first-generation models are phased out.
The vehicles, which were introduced about five years ago in Europe, helped attract new customers to BMW. But they no longer fit the brand’s lineup, product management vice president Peter Henrich tells Autocar.

The five-seat Active Tourer (pictured) and seven-seat Gran Tourer ride on BMW's "UKL" front-drive platform. Henrich says BMW will try to steer owners of these vehicles to SUV/crossover models.
BMW was a late entrant to the compact MPV segment, following rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Audi dropped its A2 entrant nearly 10 years ago, but Mercedes-Benz launched the third-generation B-Class MPV earlier this year.
