Confirming reports from earlier this year, Volkswagen AG’s Bugatti supercar unit says it will unveil a new limited-edition model on Friday in Pebble Beach, Calif.

The new hypercar is described as a spiritual successor to the EB 110 mid-engine sports car, which was launched in 1991 to commemorate the 110th birthday of founder Ettore Bugatti.

Several variants of the that vehicle were built through 1995, including the high-powered EB 110 SS that featured a 600-hp. quad-turbo V-12 engine.

The new hypercar is expected to be powered by a specially tuned version of the Chiron’s 8.0-liter quad-turbo W-16 engine. Just 10 of the vehicles will be built, with pricing rumored to start at 8 million ($8.9 million).
