The Detroit auto show’s move from January to June next year will nearly double the event’s footprint with 1 million sq ft of new outdoor space along the Detroit riverfront.
The 2020 show will be anchored by indoor exhibits, auxiliary displays and hospitality rooms at the 2.4 million-sq-ft Cobo Center in downtown Detroit.
The show’s AutoMobili-D’s mobility displays, symposiums and demonstrations—which are supported by the Michigan Economic Development Corp./PlanetM—will expand next year and move from Cobo’s lower level to the show’s main floor.
Organizers say the auto show’s symposiums, panel discussions and other activities on media and industry preview days will spread beyond Cobo to the Crowne Plaza hotel, which faces the center.
Separately, Detroit Moves—an outdoor mobility demonstration previously staged in October by Detroit, MICHauto and MEDC/PlanetM—has been rescheduled to occur concurrently with the auto show.
The 2020 Detroit auto show will begin with media and industry previews on June 9-11. Click HERE for further information.
