Pal-V international BV says it will display a production version of its Liberty flying car next month at the Geneva auto show.

The Dutch company plans to begin final certification tests for air and land use in early spring. Production is expected to begin later this year, with customer deliveries to follow in early 2019 at a starting price of $400,000.

Powered by a dual-engine Rotax propulsion system, the Liberty gyrocopter will have a top speed of 100 mph on the road and 112 mph in the air. Pal V says the Liberty will have a 284-mile driving range and can travel 310 miles in the air.

The vehicle can switch between car and plane modes within 10 minutes, according to the company. Lift is made possible by non-powered helicopter-like blades that slowly rotate overhead from air moving past them.
