Eaton Vehicle Group Names New CTO, Forms eMobility Partnership

Eaton Corp.’s Vehicle Group has appointed Karl Sievertsen vice president of engineering and chief technical officer.

He succeeds Gerard DeVito, who is retiring after a 32-year career with the supplier. DeVito served as CTO for the last five years.

Sievertsen joined Eaton in 2002 as a valve actuation manufacturing engineering manager and has held various engineering manager and executive positions since then. He previously worked for Rockford Products Corp.

Separately, the Vehicle Group’s eMobility business has formed an alliance with India’s KPIT Technologies Ltd. to develop software systems for inverters, on-board chargers, DC-DC converters and power distribution modules. KPIT (formerly KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd.) supplies embedded software, accelerators and stacks for open-architecture electronic systems and connected vehicles.

Eaton formed the eMobility unit for electrified vehicles in early 2018. At the time, Eaton forecast the business would grow from about $300 million last year to $4 billion by 2030.
