Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV says cumulative production of its Pentastar V-6 engines has surpassed 10 million units.

The carmaker introduced the venerable engine family in 2010, starting with a 3.6-liter mill. Since then, FCA has added 3.0- and 3.2-liter variants, some of which feature variable-valve-lift technology.
FCA currently offers six Pentastar engines in 16 models, including several hybrid applications. About half of all Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram models sold in the U.S. are powered by Pentastar powerplants.
The engines are produced at FCA’s plant in Trenton, Mich.
