Ford Phases Out Ka+ Minicar in Europe
Ford Motor Co. says it will stop making the Ka+ minicar because of the cost of meeting Europe’s tougher carbon dioxide emission limits in 2020.

Ford Motor Co. says it will stop making the Ka+ minicar because of the cost of meeting Europe’s tougher carbon dioxide emission limits in 2020.
The decision follows PSA Group’s announcement last November that it will drop its Adam and Karl minicars by the end of this year and replace them with more popular crossover vehicles, such as the Mokka X due in 2020.
Ford tells Automotive News Europe that it will stop shipping the Ka+ in September. The company sold 50,000 of the low-margin minicars in Europe last year, and demand is down about 13% this year.
