Raj Nair, the former head of Ford Motor Co.’s North American operations, has been hired as president and chief operating officer of Canada’s Multimatic Motorsports.

Nair, 53, was fired in February for unspecified “inappropriate behavior” deemed “inconsistent” with Ford’s code of conduct.

Multimatic played a major role in the development of the Ford GT supercar when Nair was the carmaker’s global product development and chief technical officer. He is credited with shepherding the Ford GT supercar into production in 2016 and arranging to campaign the car at the Le Mans endurance race, where it won the GTE class in 2016.

Multimatic Motorsports, which produces the GT for Ford, is the racing unit of Multimatic Inc. The Canadian company supplies hinges, closures, stamped components, engineering services and custom vehicle production.
