General Motors Co. is preparing to launch a collision repair network of dealerships and independent body shops across the U.S.
The goal of the GM Collision Repair Network is to improve customer satisfaction and enhance the profitability of participating shops, according to the carmaker.
The network will be administered by Mitchell International Inc., a San Diego, Calif.-based provider of claims management and repair process tools and services. Mitchell also will operate an online portal through which shops may apply to join the network.
GM plans to activate the scheme in early 2019. Customers whose cars are equipped with the carmaker’s OnStar concierge service will be able to use the system to find member repair facilities.
To qualify for membership, a repair facility must have been in business at least five years, amassed a good credit rating and service history, use only original equipment replacement parts and be capable of delivering high customer satisfaction ratings.
