General Motors Co. will manufacture the 6.2-liter LT2 V-8 engine for the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray sports car at the company’s plant in Tonawanda, N.Y.

The next-generation small block LT2 will produce 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque when the car is equipped with an optional performance exhaust, according to GM. Performance—and possibly electrified variants—are expected to be introduced later.
The 6.2-liter engine will be mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Chevy unveiled the all-new mid-engine Vette last week. Production of the car at the company’s assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky., will start late this year.
