Hyundai Motor Co. is discontinuing the 6-speed manual transmission option for the Elantra sedan and some variants of the Veloster Turbo sports coupe in the U.S.

The performance-oriented Veloster N line and top-end Ultimate edition will get a self-shifter. The 6-speed manual gearbox will continue as an option on the base Veloster Turbo for 2020.

Buyers of the 2020 model Elantra sedan (pictured) can opt for a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or a new continuously variable transmission. The 6-speed manual option will continue in the Elantra GT hatchback.

Hyundai previously announced that it is replacing the 6-speed automatic with a CVT in the Elantra.
