Hyundai Motor Co.’s Hyundai Mobis parts affiliate will begin supplying its own radar and camera sensors for use in Hyundai commercial trucks next month, the Korea Herald reports.

The application mark’s the supplier’s first entry into the commercial vehicle market. The unit says its high-definition devices can detect objects as far as 170 meters (558 feet) ahead.

Hyundai Mobis also is introducing a new “driver state warning” system for commercial trucks. The company says its next-generation technology goes beyond determining the driver’s gaze to analyze facial biometrics and detect careless driving behavior.

The supplier aims to mass produce its warning system and deploy it in midsize and large commercial vehicles in South Korea in 2021.
