Gingl takes over from Natale Rea, who was named interim CEO of the interior systems supplier earlier this month after Robert “Steve” Miller retired after heading the company for three years. Rea will continue as IAC’s president.
Austrian by birth, Gingl joined Canada’s Multimatic Inc. in the mid-1960s as a tool and die maker. He joined Magna International in 1968 when it was formed by the merger of Multimatic and Magna Electronics. By 1988, he was Magna’s CEO, a position he held until 2002.
More recently, Gingl was CEO of Magna’s Tesma International unit and CEO of Magna Aftermarket.
