Isuzu Motors Ltd. and General Motors Co. are moving forward with plans to co-develop a midsize pickup truck that will be produced in southeast Asia and India and introduced in emerging markets as early as 2015, according to The Nikkei.

The two companies have co-developed two previous pickup trucks. They ended their capital tie-up in 2006 when GM sold the last of its holdings in the Japanese vehicle maker.

Last year GM and Isuzu agreed in principle to collaborate on a pickup, but they didn't say when it would go into production or where it would be sold. They say the new truck won't be sold in the U.S. or Canada.

GM and Isuzu make no mention of plans to co-develop any other vehicles. The Nikkei's report doesn't clarify its claim last October that the two companies intended to begin producing a co-developed 10-passenger MPV in 2015.
