Kia Phases Out Forte Coupe

Kia Motors Corp. confirms it is discontinuing the coupe version of its Forte compact sedan.

The carmaker will discontinue the Forte Koup following the sell-down of an unspecified number of remaining 2016 models, a company spokesman tells CarsDirect. He points to an ongoing shift in demand from cars to crossover vehicles as the reason for the decision.

The carmaker introduced a redesigned Forte sedan last summer. Sales of that vehicle were up 5% through the first quarter over last year’s levels, according to Kia.
