Sweden’s Koenigsegg AB has hired Alexander "Sasha" Selipanov as its new design chief.

Best known for penning the Chiron supercar (below) while at Bugatti, Selipanov most recently worked for Hyundai’s upscale Genesis unit. At Genesis, he created the Essentia and Mint concept vehicles.

Selipanov also has had stints at Lamborghini, where he contributed to the Huracan program, and Volkswagen Group.

Selipanov is due to start at Koenigsegg in October. He also will head the carmaker’s new RAW Design House unit, which will provide design services to external clients.

Koenigsegg plans to unveil a “budget priced” hybrid-electric supercar next year. The vehicle is expected to cost about $1 million, which would be less than half that of Koenigsegg’s ultra-pricey Agera and Regera hypercars.
