The U.S. had 501,000 fewer nonfarm jobs in March than originally estimated, according to the Dept. of Labor.

The adjustment was the sharpest downward revision since 2009, the Associated Press says. The department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics won’t issue final figures until next February.

BLS says the biggest downward adjustments for March were in leisure/hospitality (-175,000 jobs), professional and business services (-163,000) and retail trade (-146,000).

The transportation and warehousing sector was a bright spot. Jobs in that category were 79,000 greater than initially reported, according to the bureau.
