The head of the AFL-CIO labor union claims that any attempt to ratify the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement next month will fail.

President Richard Trumka warns that, until Mexico shows it can enforce labor provisions in the pact, Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives won’t vote to confirm the three-way trade deal that was agreed to a year ago.

Trumka’s caution contradicts the view of the National Automobile Dealers Assn. that USMCA must be approved immediately. NADA Chairman Charlie Gilchrist declared two days ago that quick action is needed to prevent damage to the North American auto industry and its retailers.
