The components, produced by 5-year-old Carbon Inc., are the fuel cap and an air duct clip. Lamborghini says it also is evaluating the use of 3D printing for parts in other models.
The Urus parts are made with Carbon's epoxy-based EPX 82, a high-strength engineering material. The supplier’s proprietary photochemical process builds parts in layers by projecting light through an oxygen-permeable window into a reservoir of UV-curable resin.
Last month, Carbon announced that Ford Motor Co. was using its 3D parts on three production vehicles.
