Auburn Hills, Mich.-based Nexteer Automotive Group Ltd. has opened a manufacturing plant in Bekasi, Indonesia, to produce electric power steering (EPS) systems.

The 32,300-sq-ft facility will make brush column-assist EPS units for the Indonesian subsidiary of SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co. SGMW launched production of its Confero S car at the company’s new facility in Cikarang, Indonesia—its first plant outside of China—earlier this month.

The Indonesian facility is Nexteer's 12th manufacturing plant in Asia-Pacific.
