Nissan Motor Co. has named its chief performance officer, Jose Munoz, to also lead its China business operations, effective April 1.
Munoz, 52, led Nissan’s U.S. unit for three years before being replaced in December by Denis Le Vot, formerly head of Renault’s Eurasia region.
Last month Nissan said it would join Chinese partner Dongfeng Group in a 60 billion-yuan ($9.5 billion) plan to hike annual sales in China 70% to 2.6 million vehicles by 2022.
In China, Munoz will succeed Jun Seki, who has been named senior vice president of production engineering. In his new role, Seki will help coordinate manufacturing operations for the Renault-Nissan alliance.
