Renault’s “e.dams” team (pictured) has won the Formula E series for the past three years and is leading Audi this year by a narrow 20 points. Nissan will be the first Japanese carmaker to join the series.

The other participating manufacturers this year in addition to Audi and Renault are BMW, Citroen, Jaguar and Mahindra & Mahindra. Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are scheduled to join the Formula E circuit for the 2019-2020 season.
