Billy Hayes, Nissan Motor Co.’s head of sales in North America, is leaving the company at the end of this week.

Nissan has not named a successor for Hayes, described by Automotive News as well-liked by dealers. The 44-year-old joined Nissan’s North American operation in 2004 and has been its vice president of sales since 2016.
Hayes is the latest of many executives to leave following the arrest of Chairman Carlos Ghosn last November on charges of financial wrongdoing. Since then, the company has been revisiting its product lineup and restructuring to make the corporate financial activities more transparent.
At the same time, Nissan has been struggling with slumping sales. Deliveries are down 8% in the U.S. this year as the company attempts to move away from a reliance on low-margin fleet sales.
