Atlanta-based Novelis Inc. plans to open a new aluminum-sheet manufacturing facility in Guthrie, Ky., in 2020.
The company is investing $300 million in the site, which will have an annual capacity of 200,000 metric tons. The facility will include heat treatment and pre-treatment lines for use in aluminum body-in-white parts, hoods, doors, lift gates and fenders.
The company plans to break ground this spring on the facility, which is expected to eventually employ about 125 people. The factory will be near Logan Aluminum Inc., a Novelis joint venture in Russellville, Ky.
Novelis says it delivers content to more than 200 vehicle programs worldwide. Among its top customers are Ford, Fiat Chrysler, General Motors, Jaguar Land Rover and Toyota.
