Italian supercar maker Pagani Automobili SpA is introducing a limited-edition version of its Huayra roadster that is lighter, sleeker and more powerful than the base model.

The new iteration, which features a removable carbon fiber roof, is dubbed the Huayra BC in commemoration of Benny Caiola—the Ferrari collector who became Pagani's first customer 20 years ago. Production will be limited to 40 units, with pricing starting at $3.4 million.

Tipping the scales at less than 2,800 lbs, the BC is about 70 lbs lighter than the base Huayra. The savings came from an increased use of carbon fiber and ultra-lightweight carbon-titanium.

The car’s Mercedes-AMG-sourced twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 engine is tuned to make 790 hp—a 50-hp increase—and 774 lb-ft of torque, thanks in part to upgraded turbochargers. The Xtrac 7-speed automated manual transmission also has been enhanced to enable faster shifting (75 milliseconds), according to Pagani.

The carmaker says the roadster’s aerodynamic elements generate 1,100 lbs of downforce at 174 mph. The design includes new underbody flaps.
