Pininfarina Moves Forward with Electric Hypercar

Automobili Pininfarina GmbH, which was founded last year by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Pininfarina unit, has unveiled an updated version of the company’s upcoming Battista hypercar.

Among the changes are aerodynamic enhancements to the front end and side mirrors.

The sleek two-seater now will undergo a new round of wind tunnel and track testing—led by Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld—for further refinement.

Munich-based Automobili Pininfarina says the car, which will have a base retail price of more than $2.3 million, is due to launch late next year. Production will be limited to 150 units, with 50 each allocated for Asia, Europe and the U.S.

Built around a carbon-fiber monocoque, the Battista will be powered by four electric motors that generate a combined 1,900 hp and nearly 1,700 lb-ft of torque. Pininfarina estimates the car will be able to sprint from zero to 62 mph in less than two seconds and be capable of driving 300 miles between charges.
