Renault CEO Thierry Bollore says an offer by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV to merge is “no longer on the table” after FCA withdrew the $35 billion deal.

Bollore (pictured) reiterates to reporters that Renault’s top priority today is to revive ailing alliance partner Nissan Motor Co. The Japanese company’s sales, revenue and profits are shrinking, and it is now searching for its third CEO in three years.

FCA made its merger bid in late May. But it withdrew the offer less than two weeks later when Renault’s board couldn’t quickly decide whether to enter into discussions with FCA. Bollore says both companies regret the failure.
