Shanghai-based SAIC Motor Corp. has begun construction of a large cloud computing and “big-data” center in Zhengzhou, China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency reports.

The 2 billion-yuan ($284 million) facility will cover 1 million square meters (10.8 million sq ft) and become SAIC’s third and largest database in China.

Xinhua says the center’s 20,000 servers will support SAIC’s product development, advanced manufacturing, after-sale services, company operations management and a constellation of cloud-based services.
