China’s SAIC Motor Corp. plans to both import and locally assemble MG-brand cars in Egypt.

SAIC is partnering with Egyptian distributor Mansour Automotive Group to import unspecified MG models, Automotive News China reports. The two companies also are launching a separate venture to assemble MG vehicles locally, using kits imported from China.

The Chinese carmaker also assembles MG models in Thailand through a local venture. In April it launched local MG production in India, using a factory it acquired there in Gujarat in 2017 from General Motors Co.

SAIC acquired rights to the iconic British MG brand in 2007. That’s when it merged with Nanjing Automobile Group, which had bought the brand two years earlier after MG Rover went bankrupt.
