Low-volume Slovenian manufacturer Tushek Ltd. says its new TS 900 H Apex hybrid-electric two-seater weighs just over 3,100 lbs, making it the world’s lightest supercar.

By comparison, the new Ferrari SF90 weighs 3,460 lbs, and the upcoming Lotus Evija tips the scales at 3,700 lbs. The Apex (pictured) and the other two models all are built around a high-strength steel spaceframe and a carbon fiber tub.

The Apex’s hybrid system teams a 4.2-liter V-8 and 6-speed sequential gearbox with a pair of electric motors that generate a combined 950 hp and 1,033 lb ft of torque. Tushek says the car can sprint from zero to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 236 mph.

The carmaker plans to publicly unveil the Apex in the U.K. next month. In addition to the hybrid model, Tushek also is developing an all-electric supercar.

Founded in 2004 by former racecar driver Aljosa Tushek, the Slovenian company introduced the TS 500 Renovatio in 2008. The follow-up TS 600 bowed six years later.
