The Ultimate Yenko Camaro

The limited-edition 2021 Yenko Camaros, which are based on stock 1SS and 2SS coupes with a 1LE package, get a customized 6.2-liter supercharged LT1 V-8 that kicks out 1,050 hp and 900 lb-ft of torque. That compares with 455 hp and a like amount of torque for the base 1SS/2SS, and 1,000 hp and 875 lb-ft for the previous Yenko Camaro.

Power Pack

The uprated engine features an aluminum block, forged internals—steel crankshaft and aluminum pistons—10% larger throttle body and a massive supercharger. The engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new Yenko model also gets an upgraded fuel delivery system and a new exhaust line with long-tube headers and high-flow catalytic converters.

Cool Factor

To keep the high-powered heat in check, there are coolers for the oil, transmission and rear differential.

Rounding out the cool quotient are dual outboard radiators.

The track-focused 1LE treatment features a limited-slip differential, magnetic dampers and sport-tuned suspension with unique bushings, springs and stabilizer bars.

Other goodies include Brembo brakes, Magnetic Ride Control, rear spoiler and Recaro seats.

Looking Good

Among the styling changes are an exposed carbon fiber hood and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.

There also is plenty of Yenko badging throughout the interior and exterior.

The customization job is the handiwork of Tom's River, N.J.-based Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE). But the souped-up Camaros will be sold directly through Chevy dealers, reinforced by a full warranty and Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin.

What’s a Yenko?

The name comes from the legendary Yenko Chevrolet dealership in Canonsburg, Pa., that dates back to 1949. During the 1960s, the company specialized in customized sports cars that became known as “Yenkos” and now are among the most sought-after classic cars of the era.

SVE now is licensing the name. It also makes a Yenko Silverado.

Starting Point

The 2021 Yenkos start out as a $38,500 Camaro 1SS or $43,500 2SS. Add $7,000 for the 1LE package and $70,000 for Yenko upgrades, and that brings the total price to $115,500 and $120,500, respectively, before any other options.
