Toyota Motor Corp. will introduce the fifth-generation of its hot-selling RAV4 crossover vehicle at next month’s New York auto show.
The current model, which was introduced in 2012, was Toyota’s best-selling vehicle in the U.S. last year with deliveries of 407,600 units. This made it the top-selling crossover in the U.S. and fourth-best overall, trailing only the Ford F-Series, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500 full-size pickup trucks.
A darkened teaser image of the new RAV4 indicates it will get a sleeker profile, sloped hood and a sharper liftgate angle. No other information about the vehicle was revealed.
The all-new model will ride on Toyota’s New Global Architeture that also underpins the Camry, Corolla, Prius and several other high-volume cars. Media reports speculate that the 2019 RAV4 could offer a choice of two hybrid powertrains.
