Volkswagen AG will finally introduce its Arteon flagship sedan in the U.S. next month with a starting price of $36,800.

The car, which replaces the aging CC sport sedan, was launched in Germany in 2017 and was expected to arrive in the U.S. last autumn. The delay in the U.S. was attributed to problems related to emission rules.

The mid-level Arteon SEL will sticker for $40,000. It adds a panoramic sunroof, remote engine starter, leather upholstery, navigation, adaptive cruise control and a 12.3-inch reconfigurable digital instrument cluster.

The range-topping SEL Premium adds another $5,000. Goodies include standard all-wheel drive, 19-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats with massage function for the driver, heated rear seats and a power trunk lid.

All versions will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Teaming the engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission gives the Arteon a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency combined rating of 25 mpg. AWD variants are certified at 23 mpg.
