Volkswagen AG’s supervisory board will discuss and may approve next steps in the company’s budding alliance with Ford Motor Co. when it meets on July 11, sources tell Bloomberg News.
The two carmakers agreed in January to collaborate on commercial vans and midsize pickup trucks that they would market under their own brands by about 2022. The companies also plan to share assembly plants to build the vehicles.

Bloomberg says VW’s board may finalize details of that agreement at next month’s meeting.
VW and Ford also are close to finalizing a deal to collaborate on autonomous vehicle development through Ford’s Argo AI affiliate. VW is widely expected to make a large investment in the unit. Bloomberg’s source says a deal could be announced in July.
