Tesla Inc. this week released the first official image of the Model Y crossover vehicle it plans to launch in about three years.
The rendering indicates the compact vehicle will feature more sedate styling than the curvy Model 3 sedan, which is due later this year. Tesla previously has said the Model Y will ride on an all-new platform but will borrow the “falcon wing” door design from the larger Model X crossover.
CEO Elon Musk expects the Model Y will be Tesla’s best-selling vehicle. The company is scouting locations in North America for a new plant to build the vehicle.
